7th Grade Girls
Red Lick 24 — Rivercrest 20 (OT)
The 7th grade Lady Mustangs started slow but picked up the pace and powered their way to an impressive 24–20 overtime victory. Red Lick trailed early but found their rhythm and went into halftime with a 13–10 lead. The second half was intense, featuring back-and-forth scoring and strong defensive play from both teams. With just three seconds left in regulation, Aubree Castle calmly knocked down a free throw to force overtime. In the extra period, Paisley York and Sofia Carrillo each scored two points to give the Lady Mustangs the lead, and the team’s relentless defensive effort kept Rivercrest scoreless in overtime to secure the win. Every girl contributed through hustle, defense, and teamwork.
Paisley York led the way with 12 points. Piper Rushing added 4 points, while Sofia Carrillo and Aubree Castle each contributed 3. Jaimie Irby rounded out the scoring with 2 points. With the victory, the 7th grade Lady Mustangs remain undefeated on the season with a perfect 5–0 record.
8th Grade Girls
Red Lick 21 — Rivercrest 20
The 8th grade Lady Mustangs battled from the opening tip to the final buzzer in a hard-fought 21–20 win. Going into the fourth quarter, Red Lick trailed by two points, but the Lady Mustangs responded with poise and determination. Ryann McNiel scored a crucial free throw, and Brynlee Brush followed with two key points to pull the Lady Mustangs ahead. The team then locked in defensively, and their intense, relentless defense held Rivercrest scoreless in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Every girl played a role, contributing effort, energy, and defensive intensity throughout the game.
Brynlee Brush led all scorers with an impressive 17 points. Sy Endsley added 2 points, while Ryann McNiel and Jade Robertson each scored 1. With the win, the 8th grade Lady Mustangs improve to an impressive 4–1 record on the season.
The Lady Mustangs will be back in action on the road next Thursday, January 15, in Detroit. The 7th grade will tip off at 5:00 PM, with the 8th grade game to follow. Come out and support your Lady Mustangs!
