Boys Vs. Detroit

The boys basketball teams faced off last night against the Detroit Eagles for their 6th games of the season. Here are the results:

7th Grade Boys

Red Lick 49     Detroit 22

The 7th grade boys started the game off with a 1st quarter 17-4 lead and never looked back. The boys created chaos on defensive and poise on offense, led by Will Dougherty with 14 points and Stone Cauley with 12 points. Aydan Marbut and Luke Wasson had key steals and created pressure at the 2nd level to create opportunities for the Mustangs. In the second game in a row, all ten Mustangs were able to put points on the board. Lawson Brainerd and Daxton Fowler were vital pieces in handling the full court pressure and creating pressure on the Eagles ball handlers throughout the game. 

8th grade Boys

Red Lick 39     Detroit 34

The Mustangs came away with a huge victory over the Eagles last night in a hard fought game by a final score of 39-34. The Mustangs started off slow, trailing 10-6 after the 1st quarter but clawed back and took a 17-16 lead into halftime and never trailed again. The Mustangs were led by Eli Rankin with 10 points and Samuel Gonzalez and Ethan Kessler added 8 points. Jude McKeever and Jeffery Ives were huge assets in helping the Mustangs secure the victory on the defensive end by creating havoc and disrupting the Eagles on the offensive end all night. It was a full team effort in securing the win, as the energy from ALL players on and off the court was evident throughout the game.

The 7th Mustangs moved to 6-0 on the season, while the 8th Mustangs moved to 5-1. The 7th Mustangs will be off next week but the 8th Mustangs will travel with the Lady Mustangs to Clarksville next Thursday, January 22nd. The girls will start at 5pm and the boys will follow.
