The Red Lick Mustangs faced off in their last home game of the season against the Maud Cardinals. Here are the results:
7th A Boys
Red Lick Mustangs 29 Maud Cardinals 9
The Red Lick Mustangs 7th grade boys came out on top in the first game of the night over the Maud Cardinals by a final score of 29-9. The Mustangs came out on fire in the 1st quarter, taking a 15-0 lead at the break and never trailed in the game. Luke Wasson led all scorers with 13 points, with Aydan Marbut adding 5 points on the night for the Mustangs. Isaiah White and Daxton Fowler chipped in 4 points a piece, and Lawson Brainerd added 2 points. The win brings the 7th A Mustangs record to 9-0 on the season heading into the last game of the year next Monday.
8th A Boys
Red Lick Mustangs 45 Maud Cardinals 16
The Red Lick Mustangs 8th grade team capped the night off with a victory over the Maud Cardinals by a final score of 45-16. After an 11-1 run in the 1st quarter, the Mustangs played with tenacity and grit on the defensive end to limit the Cardinals and end the half with a 26-7 lead. The Mustangs were led on the offensive end by Eli Rankin with 13 points, with Samuel Gonzalez adding 9 points and Jeffery Ives contributing 8 points. The Mustangs combined with a total of 5 three point baskets and shot the ball well throughout the night. The win brings the 8th A Mustangs regular season record to 6-1 and overall record to 7-2.
The Mustangs will be back in action on the road for their final game of the season next Monday vs. the Pewitt Brahmas. 7A will tip off at 5pm and the 8A boys will follow. The boys have grinded all season and would love as many fans in the stands for their final road game of the year. Go Mustangs!!
