The Red Lick Mustangs baseball team traveled to Paris this past Monday to face off against the Wildcats in the first games of the season. Here are the results:
Game 1
Red Lick 8 Paris 5
The Red Lick Mustangs started off the season with a victory over the Paris Wildcats 8-5. Stone Cauley picked up the win on the mound, giving up just 1 hit in 3 innings and striking out 4 Wildcat batters. The Mustangs bats were hot in this game with 9 total hits. Will Dougherty led the Mustangs at the plate with an RBI triple, and Liam Tye and Wright Telg each added a double. Dax Fowler, Tyler Swenson, Luke Wasson, Branson Browning, Stone Cauley, and Nolan Dumas all had hits in this game.
Game 2
Paris 5 Red Lick 4
The Red Lick Mustangs fell to the Paris Wildcats on the last play of the game by a final score of 5-4. The Mustangs entered the last inning down 4-0 and put together a huge inning by scoring 4 runs to tie the game. Dax Fowler pitched 2 innings in the contest, scattering 2 hits and struck out 2 Wildcats. Wright Telg, Dax Fowler, and Tyler Swenson led the Mustangs at the plate with a hit a piece, with Tyler driving in the game tying run with 2 strikes and 2 outs.
The Mustangs will be back in action next Tuesday at McLeod to play North Lamar and McLeod. First game is at 5:30pm and game 2 to follow. Go Mustangs!!
